At Esri, I lead design for Android and iOS apps that help teams improve field coordination and operational efficiency in industries like utilities, government, public safety, transportation and more.
The system
Using Sketch as our primary UI design tool, we've created a series of libraries of components for designers to use across their projects.
The Android-specific libraries are broken down as such:
- System.sketch (native Android components)
- Custom.sketch (custom components built specifically for use in our apps)
- Icons.sketch (icons used in our apps)
These libraries are version controlled in Abstract—our single source of truth.
Members of the team can reference these components in Abstract, or get the gist on our documentation site.
We use this website primarily to document product designs, but we've started using it to document platform design guidelines.
